It’s amazing to think that tomorrow morning I am heading south to set up camp and take part in the one and only Wildflower Triathlon. It seems like yesterday that I decided I was going to take this challenge head on. I am very nervous and its hard not doubt my abilities. I know I have trained by butt off but this is freaking Wildflower man!!!!! I have heard horror stories, of how hot and difficult it can be. I know deep down inside I am prepared but its difficult to not listen to that little voice in my head that says “did you do enough?” To that little voice, I can honestly say yes, I have done enough, I made a plan, I stuck to that plan and I am prepared for the most difficult physical challenge of my life.
I wanted to say thank you to everyone for all the encouraging words along this journey. I didn’t reach the 225 pounds, as I would have hoped, in fact I have hit some what of a stall sitting tight between 230 and 235. I am very “OK” with this and after this event I will have to restructure my diet, as I will not be training as much over the month of June. I am going to slow down slightly and focus on weights and cardio for the months of June and July and then going back into a Tri training plan to prepare for my next big event The Big Kahuna, which is a 70.3 or half Iron Man distance taking place in early September.
My alarm clock will ring at 6:30 am so I am going to hit the sac and attempt to get some shuteye. I am so very excited to take part in this event and look forward to making this a tradition year after year.
Until Next Time – Warrior, Training for Wildflower
