I got up at 4:30am this morning to get in my 5:00am Monday morning workout. After my workout and on my way into work I stopped off at my usual Starbucks for my morning treat (Calorie & Sugar Free Tea). I reached for my tea and suddenly realized that this is a short work week for me!It has been a while since I have had a vacation. This week Meghan and I are taking our boys to Disneyland, while this seems like a typical family vacation, this is much much more. The former me avoided theme parks as I didn’t fit on most, if not all of the rides. What fun is it standing in line only to find out that you cant ride because the lap bar wont close or the seat belt buckle wont reach? I made a promise to myself that I would make sure to take a few family vacations this year, one being to Disneyland and the other to a tropical destination. So on Thursday we head off to the happiest place on earth!
Life happens fast and its so easy to become comfortable with who we are and what we have become. My new outlook on life has truly changed the way I do everything. I will never again take for granted the food I fuel my body with. Meal planning and eating in general requires a lot more work for me than your average person. I am tempered daily and sometimes I give in and other times I can fight the urge. I have talked about the power of choices and how I view each choice an a strength building exercise. Each time I make a choice to not eat this or that because it serves no nutritional or “fuel” purpose I become stronger from a mental perspective. Even with 200+ pounds lost this battle has only begun. Life is now become very real, with all the training that I am doing I can’t afford not to eat. Its a complex I have to face, a true fear that exists. I am not far from what is considered the toughest part, maintenance mode.
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend – I wanted to share some photos of my adventures this weekend. It was a great one filled with family and friend time!
