I know weight loss is not linear, I expected to see a smaller number on the scale this morning but as long as I am loosing I am going in the right direction. I worked hard this week in the gym! It’s funny how things have changed for me, and even a little exciting. I find that my limits can be pushed daily and I am able to lift more weight, run faster miles and continue to do things that I never even thought possible.

I beat my 5K time by over a minute last night! |
Life has changed for me dramatically in just 5 short months since my “rebirth”. I got out of bed this morning and looked out the window at what appeared to be the beginning of a cold, overcast, crappy weather kind of day. I thought to myself, this is the perfect kind of weather for a morning run. I walked to the closet, snagged my running shoes, got dressed and told my wife that I was going for a quick jog. She looked at me like I was crazy, I am beginning to think she is wondering what happened to her husband… the one that had trouble getting off the couch! I am still the same man I was, just now in smaller pants and with different goals and ambitions in life. I always wanted to be there for my family, and now I am finally doing something about it. My grandfather always told me “show me, don’t tell me”! Those words have been drilled into my head for as long as I can remember. Now it’s about showing myself that I can accomplish this goal and I know in due time I will arrive to my destination only to find that the journey will start again. A journey of maintenance and a whole new set of health goals to ensure that I have long term success.

Meghan and I all dressed up! |
In order to find success in this struggle is takes a support group, and in my case a few support groups. I utilize a website, www.obesityhelp.com to learn from others and share what knowledge I have come across on my journey. I have recently made a new friend that I now work out with on a regular basis. Most important, my family has been crucial to my success. My wife most of all. She understands that I have to be selfish now to ensure that I am here for as long as possible. There are countless nights I spend in the gym, taking time away from her and my boys. That part I don’t enjoy, but she has never once asked me not to go and always pushed me to continue to meet my goals and stay on plan. Meghan you are my rock, my best friend and I could have never come this far with out all of your help! I love you and am forever grateful!
