I think it’s strange where motivation comes from. I post links to my blog on my Facebook page so that people who know me personally can read if they choose. I can say that I am often surprised to hear from friends of the past and this was no exception. A childhood friend of mine, one who I have not seen for years sent me a message on Facebook letting me know that he was reading my blog and shared with me a link to a website that showcases a documentary about the health of America.
The link is: http://www.fatsickandnearlydead.com/ Its 100% free to watch!
The old friend said that he found it inspirational and I looked forward to getting home from work all day. After my boys fell asleep the time came, I streamed it to my TV via my iPad and watched the inspirational documentary unfold. It ended close to 11 o’clock and I jumped out of my bed and kissed my wife good night and high tailed it to the gym.
I have to be honest, my eating has stayed on plan but my exercise has fallen slightly from my original goal of going 6-7 times a week. My life has been very busy lately with visitors from out of town and then moving the following weekend. I found myself quickly adapting the “I will do it tomorrow” mentality and I didn’t like it. It’s tough to find the time and the desire to exercise every day, but I have put myself in a position where I have no choice but to make the time. My 6-7 times a week fell to 3-5 times over the last two weeks, it almost felt like a vacation, one that in my mind I have not earned.
To that old friend, I thank you for the kind words as well as the motivation. I did find it ironic that I found myself doing laps in the swimming pool because of what you shared! (Hint he was and I am assuming still is a great swimmer)

Don’t forget you need to give your body time to recover also. This is not an excuse to not go to the gym, but give yourself an “off ” day. On that off day you can sti’ll stay active. I know the week I moved this past April, the gym tally didn’t reflect my work, but I know I definitely worked my rear end off moving every item we own. 7 days a week I. Thx gym may even be counter productive. On my days off I like to supplement my gym workouts with hiking, biking or whatever physical activity you like. I find that when taking on these real life workouts (outside) the gym, it often works out my muscles in very different ways. You probably encountered this fat er doing muddybuddy. You were probably sore in different areas that you were if you hadwworked out. My idea is to just sTay active.
