It’s been 12 weeks since this process started and I made a promise to myself as well as a very important person in my life that I would reach the goal of 100 lbs. lost by the time she came to visit. My Grama from Colorado will be here this Friday! She has always shown concern for my health and over the last few years our conversations always seemed to go in that direction. I cannot blame her at all for her concern and would do the same if my children where ever in this position. Her concern caused her sleepless nights and worry beyond belief and I hate that I didn’t make the change sooner but life has a way of putting things into perspective.
To My Grama,
I know you will read this and I want to tell you I have done it! In just three short months motivation came in many forms, support came from all directions and I now can stand before you and a mirror 100 lbs. lighter than I once was! I cant thank you enough for all you have done for me, for the love you have shown and the support you provide!
The long nights at the gym finally feel worth it. The countless laps in the pool, the miles ran on the treadmill and the burpees o the burpees (if you don’t know what a Burpee is, THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!! But affective… Check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MGljX4bbps) …. all now feel worth the time and effort! While 100 lbs. is a significant amount of weight I know that it is only 44% to my goal of 227 lbs. I don’t want to down play this accomplishment at all but rather put into perspective what still needs to be done. I use these small milestones to give me motivation. It’s a way to celebrate what has been done all while providing motivation for must be accomplished.
Warrior Dash is only 67 days away! My next goal is to crack the 300 lb mark for the first time in years. I literally cannot remember the last time I was under 300 but I can promise you that I will be there in the near future! While I think it’s a lofty goal, it is obtainable for me to reach the pleasing number of 299 by 10/27/2012
So as promised here are some pictures for comparison. I have to be honest, I don’t have many full body shots of me at my highest weight because I found more comfort being behind the camera rather than deal with the reality of what was easy to see for others and hard for me to deal with!
